Olivia's interest in journalism began in high school. There, she spent almost four years as editor of her early college high school paper. She made an entire website for the paper to make it more accessible to students' differing schedules and adapt it to the modern age. She wrote the Breaking News column about events in the school and district, and she hosted creative writing and arts contests.

When she went back to college in 2023, Olivia wanted to be as diverse a writer as possible. So, she sought out more journalism opportunities.

Koinesúnē

Olivia's first professional experience with journalism was with Koinesúnē, an online Christian magazine detailing various ministry efforts, Church history, and questions facing the Church. She spent the summer of 2024 as a reporter intern.

National Journalism Center

After graduating, Olivia accepted an internship with the National Journalism Center. Started in 1969 by Young America's Foundation, the National Journalism Center trains aspiring journalists how to be responsible, balanced, and truth-seeking reporters to create a news media the people can trust.

They founded their internship program in 1977 to provide those students with real-world experience with weekly seminars with distinguished journalists, public policy experts, and lawmakers while receiving hands-on experience at a work placement that matches their aspirations and values as a journalist.
